Halloween activities are plentiful in Laguna Madre area

In the spirit of the spookiest holiday of the year, there are an assortment of Halloween events and activities scheduled this weekend in the Laguna Madre area.  

The Port Isabel Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a movie night at the Historic Port Isabel Lighthouse on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Starting at 8 p.m., the movie Casper will be shown on the side of the Lighthouse.

Free candy bags will be given and there will also be concessions.

There is no admission fee for this event.

Laguna Vista

The Town of Laguna Vista is hosting its first Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 29, at Roloff Park.

The festival will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will have music, games, food vendors, photo opportunities and carnival rides.

There will be several fall-themed contests including — best costume, pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, pie eating and potato sack races.

Pumpkins should be carved prior to entering the contest. Pumpkin judging will be held at 9:30 p.m.

Free Halloween bags will be given to the first 100 children attendees.

The South Padre Island Golf Club, located in Laguna Vista at 1 Golf House Rd., will have its annual Haunted Cart Barn and Golf Cart Trick or Treat event on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Art Business Incubator South Padre Island (ABI SPI) is going to have a Halloween-themed Social Thursday gathering on Oct. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m.

While mingling with ABI SPI artists and other visitors, attendees will be treated to wine, live music and a charcuterie spread. Admission is free and costumes are welcomed.

On Saturday, ABI SPI is going to have a Sugar Skull Collage Workshop from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

In this workshop, attendees will be able to craft their very own sugar skull collage from a selection of colorful and textured paper. Materials will be provided.

The workshop is going to be taught by ABI SPI artist Kristi Abbott.

Sea Turtle Inc. is going to host a Spooky Saturday with the Turtles from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 30.

The facility will have games and prizes for visitors and Halloween-themed enrichment for the sea turtles.

Family-friendly costumes are encouraged, but not required. Social pets are welcome, however, they must be on a leash.

All Halloween activities are included in the facility’s admission fee.

Children four years old and younger have free admission. The admission fee costs $10 for adults, $4 for children ages five to 17 and $6 for military and senior citizens ages 62 and older.

Friends of Animal Rescue is going to host its annual Howl-O-Ween event on Sunday.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Clayton’s Beach Bar and Event Venue.

This facility’s annual Halloween party features a dog/human contest, drink specials, prizes and fundraising opportunities for Friends of Animal Rescue.
