Instead of merely tossing these festive items into the trash, this coastal city is offering the public an opportunity to recycle them instead.
The City of South Padre Island Environmental Health Services Department is currently collecting and recycling Christmas trees.
Christmas trees can be dropped off every Saturday, between 8 and 11 a.m. now until Feb. 6 at 4501 Padre Blvd.
In addition to the drop-off location, South Padre Island residents may place their tree on the curbside anytime now until Feb. 8.
Ornaments, lights, nails and tree stands must be removed before recycling.
