Shiner launches Straight Shooter hard seltzer line

Shiner Seltzer

The makers of Shiner Bock are dipping their toes into new waters.

Spoetzl Brewery, brewer of the popular Shiner beers, is now adding craft-brewed hard seltzer to its lineup with the launch of a product called Straight Shooterr.

“As with all Shiner beers, Straight Shooter will be brewed at the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas,” a company press release stated.

The new product was announced Aug. 19.

According to Jimmy Mauric, Shiner’s brewmaster: “When we set out to make our first hard seltzer we wanted it had to be genuinely craft brewed. With that in mind, we use just a few simple ingredients and water sourced from our artesian well. We brewed it so it would live up to its name ‘Straight Shooter’—it is a straightforward, transparent, delicious, and refreshing craft brewed hard seltzer.”

Shiner’s hard seltzer will be crafted in smaller batches using traditional craft brewing methods, and the company says it’s “also naturally gluten free with zero carbs, zero sugar, and 90 calories per serving.”

The hard seltzer will be available in four flavors: Wild Cherry, Lemonade, Mango, and Grapefruit & Lime. The products will be available in a variety 12-pack of cans, Lemonade 6-pack of cans, and Wild Cherry 6-pack of cans. It will launch with retailers at the end of August and will be initially distributed in Texas.
