The Laguna Madre Art League and the Laguna Madre Art Gallery are pleased to announce and sponsor the Fourth Annual Port Isabel High School Student Art Show & Sale.

The show will feature the artwork of Rebecca Ramos, Tavien Ellison, Johnathan Ubaldo, Savannah Beard, Elliot Carter, Sierra Villarreal, Natalia Marinov, Brendan Pinkerton, Cesar Aguilera, Darien Garza and Marc Rodriguez.

These young artists’ work will be on display at The Art Gallery from April 8-30.

The community is invited to a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. April 13. The reception is open to the public and free.

Student artworks will be available for purchase at the reception.

“We are excited to join hands with The Art Gallery in support of this year’s Port Isabel High School Student Art Show & Sale,” said Cassandra Bazhaw, president of the LMAL.

Annually, the League provides two $500 continuing education scholarships to graduating art students. The group will announce the 2019 LMAL Scholarship Award recipients at the reception.

“This year, LMAL is adding to our support of these talented art students by providing them the opportunity to sell their art pieces at the PIHS Art Show Reception,” Bazhaw said. “All the monies from these sales will go directly to the individual students whose art pieces are sold that evening. We decided to add the sales component for the first time this year to give these young artists the experience and excitement of selling an artwork. When an art collector invests in a piece of art to display, appreciate and enjoy, it becomes a meaningful reward of personal satisfaction that the young artist will never forget.”

PIHS Principal William Roach and PIHS art instructor Rolando Holland will be at the reception to give insights about the students, their artwork and information about the PIHS art program.

The Art Gallery is at 405 E. Maxan Street in Port Isabel in the Lighthouse Square.
