Coastal Current Weekly

The arrival of April brings another chance to honor the planet with Earth Day on April 22.

But the Gladys Porter Zoo isn’t waiting until then—they’re already set to celebrate this Saturday, April 6.

The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day at the Gladys Porter Zoo’s annual Party for the Planet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday in Brownsville.

Guests at Party for the Planet will be able to participate in numerous games and activities throughout the zoo. Visitors can also learn about what they can do to support this planet we call home.

Furthermore, Girl Scouts will be able to accomplish 90 to 100 percent of their badge requirements for the Daisy Outdoor Art badge, Brownie Bug badge and Junior Gardener badge, organizers said.

Party for the Planet is free with paid admission to the zoo.
